東北地方などの寒い地域で作られたツギハギだらけの衣服や布製品です。木綿が貴重だった時代、人々は古い布や古着を捨てずに縫い合わせ、刺し子で補強して何世代にもわたり使い続けました。現在は世界的に評価されるアート作品となっています。

この達磨は江戸時代頃の襤褸（BORO）などを用いて、新たに刺子をしながら制作した布達磨です。

[BORO (Patchwork Boro Textile)]
BORO refers to heavily patched textiles and clothing originally crafted in the cold northern regions of Japan, such as Tohoku. During an era when cotton was precious, people never threw away old rags or garments; instead, they pieced them together and reinforced them with sashiko stitching, passing them down through generations. Today, BORO is recognized globally as a unique form of textile art.

This Daruma is a handcrafted cloth Daruma made using authentic BORO from around the Edo period, combined with newly added sashiko stitching.
